St Jude Thaddeus is known as the Patron of Impossible Cases, a cousin of our Lord Jesus Christ and a nephew of our Blessed Mother the Immaculate Virgin Mary.
A brother of St. James the Less, St Jude the Apostle left the material comforts of his parental roof in order to follow our Saviour and Redeemer of mankind in earnestly preaching the Gospel in Judea, Samaria, Idumaea, Syria, Mesopotamia and Lybia.
St Jude Thaddeus is the author of an epistle to the churches of the East and is said to have suffered martyrdom in Armenia. Finding favour in the eyes of our Lord, St Jude was gifted with divine power to cure the sick and the afflicted persons. He miraculously cured the King of Edessa from the much-dreaded leprosy by simply invokingthe Holy Name of Jesus. He died a martyr when he was clubbed to death by the mortal enemies of the church whose teachings and doctrines he fearlessly defended and preached. His hand was completely severed from his body with an axe. The relics of St Jude are now the object of veneration st St Peter's Basilica in Rome by his many devotees.
